The neurodiversity paradigm As a result of the neurodiversity movement which emerged in the late 90s, the perceptions of autism in the public eye started to take on a more positive form; autism started to be seen as a condition characterized not only by impairments, but as a multi-faceted condition with both strengths and challenges.
